Privacy policy

The Literal Light is a one-person photography brand based in Edmonton, Alberta. This site is a portfolio, not a shop — it has no accounts, no forms, no checkout, and no advertising. The short version: nothing here identifies you, and the only personal information involved is whatever you choose to put in an email or an Instagram message.

What this site collects

No cookies. theliterallight.ca sets none, runs no advertising scripts, and does not build a profile of visitors or follow them to other sites.

Visitor counts. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first by design: it is cookieless, it does not fingerprint your device, and it does not track individuals across sites or sessions. What it reports back is aggregate — how many times a page was viewed, which site referred the visit, rough country, and browser or device type. There is no way to identify you in it, and it feeds nothing but a curiosity about which photos people actually look at.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which — like any web host — processes standard request data (IP address, browser type, requested page, timestamp) in order to serve pages and defend against abuse. That processing is Cloudflare's, governed by their own privacy terms.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when the page loads. Google receives that request the way it receives any web request.

Email and Instagram messages

If you email hello@theliterallight.ca, that address is routed to a Gmail inbox. Your message, your address, and anything you attach are kept only so the conversation and any resulting work can happen. It is never sold, rented, or added to a mailing list — there is no mailing list.

The "DM to book" links on this site hand you off to Instagram. Anything you send there lives in Instagram's messaging under Meta's terms and privacy policy, not this site's — if you would rather that conversation not sit on Meta's servers, use email instead.

Photographs

Every image on this site was shot and edited by The Literal Light. If you appear in a photo, or you own a vehicle in one, and you would like it removed, email the address above and it will come down — no explanation needed.

Your choices

• Ask what is held about you, and get a copy.
• Ask for a correction, or for your email or DM thread to be deleted.
• Ask for a photo of you or your vehicle to be taken down.

Send any of those to hello@theliterallight.ca. Most messages are answered within two business days.

Changes

If this site ever adds a contact form, a different analytics tool, or anything else that touches visitor data, this page gets updated before that goes live — and the date at the top will say so.
